Last night I played my one once or twice a month gig at the Palm Lounge inside the 100 year old Fort Garry Hotel. It was Good Friday and my usual ‘drinks and dinner before night out’ crowd was replaced by families out for a pre-Easter dinner. They were quite respectful and didn’t try to talk over me.

It is a solo guitar spot and it has really been a great opportunity to maintain and increase my solo guitar repertoire. Because it is a 4 hour night and solo guitar is hard on the hands, I like to break it up with some live looping.

Some friends came to see me but mistook my end time of 8pm for my start time. I was able to give them a list of my next 5 gigs.

On these gigs I like to use my Bose 360 system. It handles the low end of my 7 string guitar, spreads the sound evenly through the room without over powering it and is only one trip more than a traditional guitar amp.
