Last night I did a guitar and bass duo with long time friend and music colleague, Steve Hamilton. We play standards and a few ‘other’ type tunes like songs from Pat Metheny or Dionne Warwick. we also talked about things going on in our lives and with people around us. The Crowd at Earls doesn’t clap but we had many thanks yous as patrons left. Next Week I am having another special guest with me. As I have a solo guitar gig the next night at the Palm Lounge inside the Fort Garry Hotel I can’t have a singer or else my hands will be toast. Solo guitar is hard on the hands and the mind and I don’t get to do it enough in this town to have the stamina. Or maybe I do but have never tested it.
Either way, you can see me with Steve and, my wife, Adelle this Friday, April 28th at McNally Robinson from 8-10.
